Tender and Juicy Air Fryer Chicken

To make tender and juicy air fryer chicken, follow this simple recipe for perfectly cooked, flavorful chicken every time:

Ingredients:

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or thighs)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp dried thyme (optional)
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp chili powder (optional, for a slight kick)
  • Lemon wedges and fresh herbs (for garnish, optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the chicken:
    • Pat the chicken breasts dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture. This helps the chicken get a nice, crispy outer layer.
  2. Season the chicken:
    • In a small bowl, mix together garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, thyme, salt, pepper, and chili powder.
    • Rub olive oil all over the chicken, then coat the chicken with the spice mixture, ensuring it’s evenly distributed on both sides.
  3. Preheat the air fryer:
    • Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (190°C) for about 5 minutes.
  4. Air fry the chicken:
    • Place the seasoned chicken breasts in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Make sure not to overcrowd the basket.
    • Cook for 10 minutes, then flip the chicken and continue cooking for another 8–10 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C) using a meat thermometer.
  5. Rest and serve:
    • Let the chicken rest for about 5 minutes to retain its juices.
    • Garnish with lemon wedges and fresh herbs if desired.

Tips:

  • Marinate: If you have time, marinate the chicken in the seasoning and olive oil for 30 minutes or overnight to enhance the flavor.
  • Even cooking: Try to use chicken pieces of the same thickness to ensure even cooking.
  • Juiciness: Avoid overcooking by checking the internal temperature early.
